Welcome to this blog on Celebrating Age.

My aim is to highlight the gifts and contributions that older people make to our community and  to encourage older people to stay fit, active and connected with the community as much as possible.

On this blog you will find posts about issues relevant to older people and their families and links to other useful websites.

You will also find out about activities for older people that are provided by St. Gabriel’s Centre in Weoley Castle, Birmingham. We also provide opportunities for volunteering and training.

Our activities are low-cost, sustainable and good fun. They come out of the great community we already have here in Weoley Castle and are inter-generational.

I hope you will enjoy reading and hearing about the voices of a people who are often hidden and marginalised in our society. From within one of the most deprived areas in our country the older people have brought much richness and joy.

Remember to visit http://stgabrielsweoleycastle.wordpress.com/ to find out about activities at St.Gabriel’s Church and Centre.
